Flashdance Becoming a TV Show

From the Hollywood is running out of ideas but we’ll give it a chance since it’s an ‘80s movie files we have news that Flashdance will be made into a TV show.

Flashdance the TV Show Director Found

Justin Simean, from Dear White People, will direct and adapt the classic 1983 dancing flick. He had signed a production deal with Paramount Television Studios in August 2021.

We’re still waiting to find out who will fill Jennifer Beals’ welder boots as the lead actress of the TV show.

Flashdance Will Be on Paramount +

Not much is know about the Flashdance TV show. It was a Paramount movie so it’s fitting it will find it’s way to the streaming service Paramount +. The launch date of the TV show is still TBD.

Flashdance the TV Show Has Big Ballet Shoes to fill.

Flashdance was a huge hit when it came out in 1983. Like Footloose, Flashdance was wrapped up in the musical genre of the ‘80s. Films with a good soundtrack, where the lead character broke out in a dance to express themselves, were big. Will this style translate to current day?

Jennifer Beals played a welder by day, bar dancer at night who has dreams of getting accepted into a dance conservatory.

One can only hope the TV show will have better wigs for the stand-in dancers. Jennifer Beals couldn’t really dance and the woman dancing for her had this big wig that couldn’t stay in place during the dance scenes. It’s a fun part of ‘80s movies: they had no idea there would be technology that would allow you to analyze it on your home TV, movies were made for the big screen. So there are probably more gaffes than there would be now. You couldn’t freeze frame and screengrab back then.

The best scene of Flashdance is when Alex (Jennifer Beals) runs out of her audition into the arms of Michael Nouri who is waiting for her with roses and her dog with a ribbon around his neck. Ahhhhh.
